About Me

Here is a little bit more information on my particular areas of specialism:

Having volunteered at various schools, centres and hospital units for children and young people with mental health problems or learning disabilities, I began working for Off The Record, the young people’s charity in Bath. While working with this hugely diverse group, I learnt the importance of being able to provide young people with the time, space and encouragement to build enough trust to open up to me, and to help them find ways of coping better and looking forward to a more positive future.

Quite often, the young people I worked with didn’t feel able to talk to their parents about their worries or difficulties. Prompted by this and by the birth of my own children, I also became interested in how to improve relationships and communication within families, at all ages and stages, by focusing on building (or re-building) strong bonds of attachment between parents and children. This has become fundamental to all my work with parents, including adoptive and foster families through my Adoption Support work with Barnardo’s childrens charity.

Whatever your age, circumstances or background, my aim always is to enable you to tell your story, help you to understand your situation and experiences more fully, and empower you to move forward in a positive way.
